The last one I remember was Modern Warfare 3, but it wouldn't surprise me if I saw a handful in the fever dream that was Black Ops 4 on PC. I can't remember the last time I saw an actual hacker, as someone who avoids Warzone when Clash isn't in rotation and played on console from BO2 through Advanced Warfare. Then there's MW2's phone number requirement on PC. Then during Vanguard's lifecycle they developed Ricochet anti-cheat. Then Warzone dropped as a F2P title so all the hackers can just make endless new accounts for that instead of blowing $60 (now $70) for every new game. Then crossplay was introduced in 2019 and further diluted hackers in matchmaking, since everyone is in the same matchmaking pool unless they need the disabled crossplay placebo. Then came the strict SBMM people have been bitching about for years (including now that it's been changed to the much better EOMM) in AFAIK 2014.Īt some point they finally switched to dedicated servers and killed the horrible P2P matchmaking. I'd like to note that CoD's actual multiplayer mode is remarkably crystal clear these days.įirst came brand new consoles with tighter security in 2013.
